Indications/Uses
Major depressive episodes.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 15 or 30 mg in the evening. Maintenance: 15-45 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Place tab on tongue & allow to disintegrate then swallow w/ water or other liqd.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Bone marrow suppression. Epilepsy, organic brain syndrome, hepatic or renal insufficiency, CV disease, hypotension. Micturition disturbances, acute narrow-angle glaucoma, increased IOP, GI obstruction or ileus, DM. Suicide/suicidal thoughts. Discontinue in the presence of jaundice. Renal or hepatic impairment. Phenylketonuria. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Somnolence, dizziness, headache, nausea, increased appetite, wt gain w/ generalised or local oedema.
Drug Interactions
May increase CNS depressant effect of alcohol & sedative effects of benzodiazepines. Do not administer concomitantly or w/in 2 wk of cessation of MAOIs. Serotonin syndrome w/ serotonergic drugs. Increased conc w/ CYP3A4 inhibitors; decreased conc w/ CYP3A4 inducers. Wait until 24 hr after the last dose of linezolid.
